Ethics

As a Chartered Psychologist I am governed by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

I am also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Counselling Psychologist.

Confidentiality

As a Chartered Psychologist I offer a private service and adhere to clear and strict guidelines relating to confidentiality. This means that anything you say to me is confidential, and no information is released about you.

There are only a small number of situations where confidentiality might be broken such as if I become concerned about serious harm occurring to either yourself or others, legal requirements, or if a referring agency or insurance company who is paying your fees requires a report. Should any of these exceptions occur, this is discussed with you as to how best to proceed. Please feel free to ask me any questions you wish about this at our initial meeting.

Supervision

It is a requirement of my profession that I receive regular supervision from a qualified supervisor of all my casework. This is conducted in a manner whereby your anonymity and confidentiality are assured.

Notes

I keep brief notes of our sessions together in order that I can ensure I offer you a professional therapeutic service. These do not identify you and are kept in a secure location. After our work together has ended, they are kept for a maximum of six months then destroyed.
